Tracer is an exploration of flight in the Second World War.
Tracer draws on images found in the National Collection of Aerial Photography. Operation Crossbow was a mission flown by the then fastest planes in the world, the Spitfire, to take photographs behind occupied lines in Europe. It was an ‘operation again all phases of the German long-range weapons programme.’
It is not just the images themselves I found most but the things that could not be seen, and the stories they created. Three of those stories are explored in Tracer.
Tracer is dedicated to Heather Storer and Edward Cohen.
